The 2014 Masquerade winners were:
Best School – 1st Place, Cabot Primary
Cabot Primary School is located at the heart of St Pauls in a diverse and vibrant community. The school is located very close to the city centre and is located in the area of the carnival. The school Headteacher is Mr Burton and we thank all the staff and parents involved in making such a wonderful contribution to the carnival. Thanks to Swift Locksmiths for donating the 1st place prize.
2nd place, The Dolphin Primary
Dolphin Primary School started back in 2012 and we are really grateful with the contribution they are already making to the carnival. The school is based on Cheltenham Road and has a strong school community with parents really getting involved in school life. Thanks to all the school staff and parents for their hard work and effort.
3rd place, Stokes Park and Horfield Fusion
Third place went to Stoke Park and Horfield Fusion. Stoke park is another strong and vibrant community school that works hard to ensure children from all backgrounds and abilities can thrive. Their contribution to the carnival was duly noted and we look forward to their entry at the next carnival. The joint third place was also given to Horfield Fusion as the judges really loved what they had to offer the carnival.
Best Samba Band – BATALA
The Best Samba Band Award went to BATALA who are famous for their Samba reggae and street drumming. Their contribution really impressed the crowds and the judges alike. With full on rhythm and beats BATALA’s contribution had the crowds dancing and could not be missed.
Best Mas Camp – 1st place, RISE Youth Dance and Movement
Best Mas camp went to RISE Youth and Dance Movement. RISE are a Bristol dance organisation offering valuable classes in dance and movement for young people. They offer a variety of dance styles and really showed the carnival the talent with their wonderful and inspiring contribution. RISE are able to offer young people the experience of being part of a dance company to prepare them for life as a professional dancer. We can’t wait to see what they’ll be doing next year.
Playground/Invisible Youth Circus. 2nd place, Felix Road Adventure
